A memorial service for Velma Willie Echols, 93, of Navasota, Texas, will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Velma was born on April 20, 1920 in Segno, Texas, to parents, Willie and Elmer (Stephens) Cain and passed away on December 27, 2013 in Navasota, Texas. She was a member of the Louisiana Eastern Star. She was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain. She hosted all family functions at her home and raised several generations of her family. Velma is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ralph Echols.

She is survived by brother, Edmond Cain of Tucson, Arizona; son, James Echols and wife Gina of Montgomery, Texas; daughter, Sherry Eisner and husband Eric of North Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchildren, Madeline Echols, Anthony Echols, Ernest Chauvin, Chad Chauvin, Jade Chauvin, Keith Story and Brenda, and Shane Bromnskie; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
