Graveside services for Velma Lee Shamel, 93, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Hill Cemetery in Segno, Texas with Mitchell Murphy officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., before the service, in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mrs. Shamel was born January 31, 1926 in Hardin County, Texas, to parents, Jesse James Wilkinson and Edna (Collins) Wilkinson, and passed away March 30, 2019 in Livingston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Shamel; brothers, William Wilkinson and Clarence Wilkinson; and sister, Margie Miller.

She is survived by her daughter, Gretchen Rushing of Livingston, Texas; grandsons, Ian Rushing and Evan Rushing; and sister, Rose Gay also of Livingston, Texas; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

The family wishes to thank everyone at the Pine Ridge Nursing Home and Kindred Hospice for the excellent care of their loved one.
