A graveside service for Vernon Ray Whiteside, 88, of Shepherd, Texas, will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 11:30 a.m., at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas, with Dale Everitt officiating

Vernon was born July 13, 1934 in Porterville, California, to parents William Whiteside and Beatrice (Short) Whiteside, and passed November 1, 2022, in Livingston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Whiteside; parents; and his son, Charlie Whiteside.

He is survived by his daughter, Debby Gilhousen and husband Jon of San Antonio, Texas; nephew, Joe Edwards of Livingston, Texas; grandsons, Marin Van Fossan of Huntington Beach, California, William Van Fossan of San Antonio, Texas; and Timothy Enos of Corona, California; great grandsons, Little Marty Van Fossan, and Mayson Von Fossan both of Huntington Beach, California great granddaughter, Pricilla Enos of Corona, California; great grandson, Troy Enos of Corona, California; great granddaughter, Isabella Enos of Corona California; and his stepsons, Joseph, Ricky Roberts of San Antonio, Texas, Jerry Roberts of Los Angeles, California, and Billy Roberts of San Antonio, Texas; along with numerous other loved ones and friends.
