Memorial services for Virginia Elizabeth (Sugar) Weems Westmoreland, 92, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Livingston, Texas. Interment will be at a later date in the Shepherd Hill Cemetery in Willis, Texas.
Sugar was born on December 9, 1924 in East Columbia, Texas to parents, Sands Smith and Nan Robinson (Pickett) Weems, and passed away August 17, 2017 in Livingston, Texas. She attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas and received a degree from Sul Ross College in Alpine, Texas in 1944. Sugar married Bill, her childhood sweetheart, on August 29, 1946 and they had six children. On August 29, 2017 they would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.
Sugar attended the First United Methodist Church in Livingston and was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 70 years. She belonged to several bridge clubs and also enjoyed sewing and knitting. Sugar loved playing cards with her family and friends. Sugar was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jacob Anglin; and 8 brothers and sisters.
Sugar is survived by her husband, J.W. (Bill) Westmoreland Jr. of Livingston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, J.W. (Joe) and Marylee Westmoreland III of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Stacy Callihan of Willis, Texas; daughter, Zee Anglin of Liberty, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Bill Duran of Lockhart, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Jacques Poincloux of Conroe, Texas; son, Mark Westmoreland of Amarillo, Texas; sister-in-law, Dorothy Weems of League City, Texas, 13 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren; along with numerous relatives and friends.
