Funeral Services for Walter J. Hill, Jr., 83, of Livingston, Texas will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Dr. Brodrick Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in the Restland Memorial Park Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., before the service begins.

On April 7, 1937, Walter J.  Hill, Jr. was born to Walter Hill, Sr. and Lena C. Hill in Abbeville, Louisiana.  As a young child he was baptized at Mount Triump Baptist Church.

Walter was a native of Abbeville, Louisiana where he attended and graduated from James A. Herod School.  While living in Abbeville, Louisiana, Walter, (Joe) met and married Ella J. Hill. From that union 2 kids were born, Dexter J. Hill and Lynette M. Hill, in Abbeville. Walter then moved to Houston, Texas where a third child was born, Natalie R Hill. He loved and cherished his children more than anything.

Walter was a hard worker who always provided for his family. He worked at European Imports, Braniff Airlines and Metro Transit where he retired. Not only was he a hard worker at work, he loved working around his house. He had a passion for restoring old cars and trucks. He also loved flipping houses before anyone else knew what that was. He didn't care if you knew how to paint or not, he would let you help him anyway and he would always call you his friend.

Walter was a loving husband who married Faye Dean Robinette Hill on March 29th, 1999 and remained married until his passing.

On February 13, 2021, Walter ran his final race.  He was called home to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  There he was met with loving arms of this parents, Walter and Lena Hill; three siblings, Roland Hill, Worolean Lavine and Barbara Lynn Hill Henderson; one grandson, Colby Leon Gibbs; one step-daughter, Starra A. Escobedo; and great-granddaughter, Angel Ann Robert.

He is survived by his wife, Faye D. Hill; his ex-wife, Ella, J. Hill; his children, Dexter J. Hill, Lynette M. Hill and Calvin and Natalie R. Hill. He has six grandchildren, Tiffany C. Hill, Cory J. Howard, Courtney J. Bowie, Taylor R. Gibbs, Deon J. Hill and Dexter J. Hill, Jr.; 2 great-grandchildren, Alana and Aaron; 4 step-grandchildren, Starra B. Lane Calica, Ezra J. Lane and Calbertha, Kefira Bonds and Michael, Jessica McClenon and Dawayne; 6 step great-grandchildren, Michael Bonds, Jr., Casey Lane, Veronica Lane, Dawayne McClenon, Jr., Landon McClenon, Lalana McClenon. Also survived are Mrs. Faye's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
