Wanda Marie Cockrell Clamon

Graveside services for Wanda Marie Cockrell Clamon, 78, of Livingston, Texas, will be Saturday, February 28, 2026, in the Feagin Cemetery in Livingston, Texas with Brother Quentin Matthews officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 until time of the service.

Wanda was born in Camden, Texas, on February 11, 1948, to Jasper and Mary Cockrell and passed from this life in Lufkin, Texas, on February 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Clamon, her parents Jasper and Mary Cockrell; sister, Janice Cockrell Cramb; Father and Mother-In-Law Roy and Bessie Clamon, brother-in-law Don Clamon, sisters-in-law Lanelle Clamon and Sheryl Clamon Mitcham.

Wanda is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Elisha Burris Bell and husband David (Bo) of Corrigan, Shana Burris Dickens and husband Patrick of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Reagon Clamon and wife Julie Myers of Castroville; grandchildren, Mitch Bell and wife Candace of Nacogdoches, Blake Bell and wife Lexi of Nacogdoches, Shelbey Smith and husband Stephen of Livingston, Seth Dickens of Livingston, Luke Clamon and Molly Clamon of Castroville; great-grandchildren, Annalee Bell, Addelynn Bell; Alora Bell, Banks Bell, Baylor Bell, Bentley Bell, Leon Smith, Asa Smith, and Noah Smith; sisters Carolyn Cockrell Elmore of Round Rock, and Beverly Cockrell of Katy; brother-in-law Dale Clamon and wife Susan of Chester, sister-in-law Jan Clamon Whitworth and husband John along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also survived by life-long friends, the Josh David family.

Wanda was an excellent student throughout her school years. In high school, she was a band majorette and a beloved favorite among her peers. Her sisters, Carolyn, Janice and Beverly, worshipped her. She was our “Sisi” and she was the best sister ever. She would marry her high school sweetheart, Gary, and was soon blessed with daughters Elisha and Shana. Life would soon take a different turn, however, but being the resilient and devout Christian that she was, Wanda knew God was with her and would deliver her to the life she deserved.

God sent Lynn Clamon into her life and the two eventually married and soon thereafter, son Reagon was born. The family lived in Tyler County where her children attended school. Wanda was active In the PTA and served many years as Girl and Boy Scout Leader. Wanda and her family were members of the Cade Memorial Methodist Church in Chester. Her love for this church was evident through her servitude. She loved serving in any capacity, especially as a song and worship leader. She was a faithful and loyal servant of the Lord as well as a mighty prayer warrior.

After many attempts of encouraging her daughters to go to nursing school, Wanda finally began a journey into nursing. For many years she commuted to SFASU, a grueling schedule that often left her exhausted - once so tired she slept in her car, unable to make it into the house. In 1994, her determination was rewarded with a BSN degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and fulfilled her dream to become a registered nurse. Like her grandmother, Clara Mae Cockrell, this was Wanda’s calling.

Wanda and Lynn eventually settled in the Hortense Community in Polk County. The home they built there became the gathering place for generations of family and a haven for their numerous pet “family.” Wanda inherited her green thumb from her mother and in springtime the homestead was ablaze with every kind of tree, flower and shrub. This home was full of joy, laughter and love. She thoroughly loved having her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in her home as much as possible. In her words, they were her greatest accomplishment.

Above all, Wanda was a woman of compassion and strength like few have ever known. She made those who knew her feel special and loved and to all who were blessed to know her, she will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the doctors, staff and nurses at Chi St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin as well Heart to Heart Hospice who cared for their beloved.
