Obituary
Funeral services for Wilburn Edison Rowe, 81, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Central Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Brad Butler, Rev. Harold Isaacs and Rev. Mike Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Mr. Rowe was born May 15, 1934 in Moscow, Texas to parents, Dennis Austin Rowe and Thelma (Brock) Rowe, and passed away November 3, 2015 in Livingston, Texas. Wilburn graduated from Livingston High School in 1953. He attended Texas A&I where he played football before graduating from Sam Houston State University with a degree in education. He also served 3 years in the United States Army. Wilburn received a master's degree in counseling and a master's degree in education from Prairie View A&M. He spent 50 years touching many lives through teaching, coaching and being a driver's education instructor. He was always known as "Papa Coach" by his grandchildren. The last few years he faithfully listened every Friday night to the games that his son's were coaching in. He was a true Midland and Bellville fan. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Dennis Austin (Corky) Rowe.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Helen (Stone) Rowe of Livingston, Texas; son, Wilburn Randal Rowe and wife, Mari of Midland, Texas; daughter, Nita Christine Rowe of Austin, Texas; son, Grady Mitchell Rowe and wife, Jennifer of Bellville, Texas; grandchildren, Katelyn, Troy, David, Raygen, Stone, and Tatum; sister, Ellen Ruth Rossi and husband, John of Corpus Christi, Texas; sister, Eva Jane Boehm and husband, Ray of Houston, Texas; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
