At the age of 9 years old his father bought him his first motorcycle. He has been riding ever since. At the age of 17, Bill joined the Army (1966) and on his 18th birthday was sent to Vietnam. There he was trained to be a mechanic crew chief on a D model UH Huey helicopter and secondary position was a door-gunner. During his time in Vietnam, Bill's helicopter was shot down three times and the third time being shot down behind enemy lines. From 1968 to 1972, Bill was sent to several European countries, including his favorite, Germany.

Bill worked for UPS and K-Mart, both in Houston, Texas, as a vehicle mechanic for several years before moving to Trinity, Texas in the 80's and starting his own auto repair business in Trinity, off of FM 356 and Trinity Cove. There, he and Alice (his deceased wife of 32 years) had his auto repair business (Bill's Paint/Body and Auto Repair) for 15 years. In 2010, Bill bought property in Livingston to be closer to their daughter, Wilma Jo (Denise) Romine-Tucker. He sold his company at that time. The month of November 2015, Bill was introduced to Lilly Nagel-Reed by some mutual friends November 2015. Obviously they hit it off and were married December 23, 2016.

Bill is a charter member of American Legion Post 402 Livingston, Texas and a current Life member of American Legion Post 629, Camilla Texas, where he has held the position of First-Vice Commander and a position on the E-board. He is also a past member of American Legion Riders Post 629 and a past member of San Jacinto High Rollers, Livingston Chapter.

He had had few hobbies or past times, as work and family came first. But, Bill enjoyed fishing and won several small fishing tournaments. He loved practice shooting and deer hunting. He truly enjoyed building and flying RC airplanes and Drones. He literally loved racing his pro-street car, a 1968 Dodge Charger (Blue Thunder). His love for doing custom paint and body work on motorcycles and vehicles has left him quite a name for himself. From Trinity to Conroe, to Huntsville, to Livingston, and to Coldspring and as far as Las Vegas, Nevada. You could usually find him at car shows, showing his own collection of cars that he re-built and painted.

Bill introduced Lilly to bike riding only after their third date. She fell, hook line and sinker. Their love for riding bikes was one of their favorite things to do, still owning a 2005 White Honda Goldwing 1800, 30th year edition.

Bill loved his family very much and always looked forward to spending time with them. Whether it was attending Garth Brooks concerts with Denise or riding with Mary Jane, pulling pranks on Lilly or adult Easter booze bottle hunts. Bill loved life and he and Lilly tried to live it to the fullest each and every day.

Bill was known by his sister and brother and nieces as Pete and Uncle Pete; known by our biker friends as Wild Bill. He was known by his grandchildren as grandpa and by Lilly as Pete, Bill and Wild Bill.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with full Military Honors and Last Ride leaving from Cochran Funeral Home and going to Bill and Lilly's Home.
