Obituary

A Memorial service for William Lafour, age 90, of Livingston, Texas will be held August 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.

William was born March 19, 1933 in Galveston County, Texas and passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023 in Livingston, Texas at home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dirwood LaFour and Vina (O'Brien) Lafour; stepfather, Grady Longbotham; brother, Carl Longbotham; daughters, Becky Franklin and Barbara Seagroves; sons, Little Bill and Butch Lafour; daughter-in- law

Kaye LaFour; brother, Wayne Lafour; wife of 45 years, Pauline LaFour; and his second wife of 26 years, Josephine LaFour.

William is survived by his sisters, Trick O'Conner, Rita Miller, and Lillie Pell and husband Jim; brother, Grady Longbotham and wife Teresa, son Richard "Dink' Lafour and wife Maxine; 11 grandchildren, Cissy, Joey, Missy, Jason, Ginger, Billy, Bo, Mandy, Brent, Cody, and Jeremy; 20 great children; and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Willian is also survived by his stepchildren, Shirley Clark and husband Rick, Joseph Robertson and wife Quyen, Barbara Trayer and husband Mike, Mary Biederstadt, Sandra Rzetelny and husband Michael, Marilyn Sewell, Clifford Robertson and wife Hon, Pam Jasper, Laura Cash and husband Kevin, and 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.

William moved to Livingston, Texas in 1969 to start a business in Bulk Heading and Pile driven on Lake Livingston. He and his partner, Cotton Whatley, began as L&W Construction and later became L&W Lafour and Sons. Bill was known as a hard worker and honest. He and his sons worked on Lake Livingston, the coast and many other places. They built piers, coffer dams, bridges, and boardwalks.

Bill loved his family and friends, He enjoyed sports, good food, and traveling. Being a Jehovah's Witness, he loved talking to people about the Bible and the hope God gives. He devoted his time to his belief right down to his last day of life. He will be missed!
