William (Bill) R. Gamble.
Bill passed peacefully in to the hands of the Lord Jesus on October, 23 2009 in his home in Livingston, TX. He was born March 6, 1916 in Graham KY, and raised in Benton IL. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Evelyn Wingo. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Carroll and husband Paul of Bryan, TX, sons, Bill Gamble Jr. of Kalispell, MT, Carl Gamble and wife Wendy of Austin, TX, and Richard Gamble of Livingston, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ty Carroll, John Carroll, Cindy David, Cy Gamble, Zack Gamble, Marty Gamble, B.J. Gamble, Katye Isakson, Jason Gamble, and Aaron Gamble along with his 15 great grandchildren. As a young man, Bill was known as Peaceful Pat for his ability to settle arguments peacefully. He served as a Seaman 1st Class with the Navy Construction Battalion (CBs) during World War II. Bill and Evelyn moved to Houston where Bill worked 14 years as a letter carrier and later as Station Supervisor at Fair View, River Oaks, Sharpstown, and General Foreman at the main Post Office in Houston. Bill was a devoted father and husband and all who knew him, loved him. He requested in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to Godtel Ministries, 1607 S. Washington Ave. Livingston, TX 77351 or the Salvation Army.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 27, 2009 at 10:00AM in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston with Rev. Gerald Reeves officiating. Burial will be Friday October 30, 2009 in the Masonic & Odd Fellow Cemetery in Benton, Il. Visitation will be Monday October 26, 2009 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel.
