William Wydale McAbee III

October 3, 1978 - January 28, 2013

A memorial service will be held for William ""Bill"" McAbee III held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Cochran Funeral Home with Reverend Phillip Larsen presiding. A private interment will follow at a later date.

Bill was born on October 3, 1978 in Pomona, California. He passed away Monday, January 28, 2013.

Bill graduated from Livingston High School. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the US Army where his love of firearms, and his expertise, blossomed. He was awarded the Expert Infantry Badge as well as several other citations. After completing his Army commitments, Bill enlisted in the US Air Force where he worked his way up to crew chief on an A-10 Thunderbolt (Warthog) Squadron. He served a tour of duty in Iraq and spent a year in Korea at Osan Air Force Base.

After retiring from the Air Force with a medical disability due to a service related back injury, Bill settled down to being a full time husband and father. He started an online security business ""McAbee Defense"" and taught his daughters to shoot. Bill was a dedicated family man whose greatest pleasures in life involved hanging out with his wife, daughters, and son. He was a friend to many and always treasured the relationships he had developed while in the military.

Those grieving his loss include his wife and best friend, Shannon; his loving daughters, Autumn and Trinity; his son, William IV; his Mother and Dad, Kathy and Larry Alexander; Father and Step-Mother, William and Jeri McAbee; beloved brother, Kristopher McAbee; niece and nephew, Ava and Finn McAbee, grandmother, Rose Marie Griffin; grandmother, Betty Wood; great uncle, Robert Griffin; special cousins, Anthony and Dusty Boyer and Jenn Smith; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
