Funeral services for Wilma Sparks, 86, of Dallardsville, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Interment will follow in the Big Sandy Cemetery in Dallardsville, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Our sweet wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Wilma Sparks of Dallardsville, Texas passed away peacefully December 26, 2017.
Wilma was born May 12, 1931 to Charley and Zelma Lilley. She attended and graduated from Big Sandy School in Dallardsville. Wilma was working at the telephone company in Livingston when she met her future husband, Norman Sparks. They were married on September 21, 1950.
They moved around during their young years as Norman worked in the oil field business and Wilma stayed home to raise their two daughters. In 1965 they settled down in Dallardsville and Wilma began working at the Big Sandy School District. She retired as Tax Assessor/Collector for the school district.
Wilma was a lifelong member of Sunflower Baptist Church. Her belief in Jesus Christ was fundamental in her life. Her church and the social network it provided were so very important to her.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband or 67 years, Norman Sparks, daughters, Charlene Maass and her husband, Fred of Bryan and Twyla Yeager and her husband, Tim of Quitman. She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren, Leigh Ann Hulin-White, Landon Yeager, Jarrod Yeager, Christi Macias and Maghan Graff. There are also nine great grandchildren, Clayton Macias, Colton Macias, John Macias, Demi Dodson, Daleigh White, Evelyn Yeager, Isaac Yeager, Luke Yeager and Jake Yeager.
