Funeral services for Winnie Lou Matthews, 99, of Beach City, Texas, will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Orval Barger officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday morning, until service time.

Mrs. Matthews was born on February 13, 1915 in Troup, Texas and passed away on March 15, 2014 in La Porte, Texas. During her lifetime, she worked as a teacher, she enjoyed working in her yard and loved her church work. She is preceded in death by her parents, H.W. and Cora (Burton) Dumas; husband, Jordan Royce Matthews, Sr.; daughter, Baby Girl Matthews; sister, Cora Lillian Engel; and brothers, W.E. Dumas and Preston Dumas.

She is survived by daughters, Peggy Krell of Beach City, Texas and Mary Lou Green of Houston, Texas; son, Jordan Royce Matthews, Jr. of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Burton Dumas of Houston, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
