Yale Eugene Slocum ""Bud"", age 81 of Leggett, Texas passed away on July 19, 2013 in Leggett. He was born on April 1, 1932 in Cadillac, Michigan to parents, Wesley Arthur and Johanna (Harris) Slocum.
Bud is preceded in death by both of his parents; sons, Wesley Slocum and Dale Slocum; brother, Richard ""Chum"" Slocum; sisters, Sharon Thomas, Shirley Manlove, Mary French, and Barbara Amidon. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Slocum of Leggett, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Jimmy Maxwell of Goodrich, Texas; daughter-in-law, Nita Slocum of Cleveland, Texas; sister, Betty ""Bets"" Johnigan of Manton, Michigan; sister, Margaret ""Pete"" Thatcher of Cadillac, Michigan; brother, Don Slocum of Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren, Bryan Kay and K-C Kay, Lonnie Nicklas and Melody Gaconnet, Christin Villareal, Bobbie Reeves, Carenda Lawless, Jessie Fulsom, Samantha Maxwell, Dakota Maxwell, Chris Slocum and Wesley Slocum; great-grandchildren, Kristine Baty, Gunnar Kay and Shaniah Kay, Isaac Kay, Joshua Kay, Joseph Gaconnet, Ravin Nicklas, Lonnie Nicklas, Ty Lawless, Brooke Sanchez, Sadie Sanchez, Brendan Ethridge, Jimmy Maxwell, Johanna Reezes, Jymma Folsom; great-great-grandchildren, Diezel Kay and Brandon Baty; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Bud will be escorted to his grave by pallbearers, Jimmy Maxwell, Dakota Maxwell, Howard Kay, Gunner Kay, Larry Reeves, and Curtis Scogin.
Services for Yale ""Bud"" Slocum will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 4:30 PM at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Rev. Paul Boyd will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at Peebles Cemetery in Livingston. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Honor Guard Post #8568.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 22, 2013 at 5:00 PM at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston.
