Funeral services for Yancy Williams, 54, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Livingston, Texas with Pastor Chris Borden and Bro. Byron Lyons officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 10, 2021, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., in the First Baptist Church of Livingston, Texas.
Yancy was born August 18, 1967 in Houston, Texas, to parents, Ed Williams and Henrietta (Foreman) Williams Patterson, and passed away October 5, 2021 in Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents. During his life, Yancy proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp and in the US Army Reserves. He served as a Marine from December 1986 until May 1991 as a LAV (Light Armored Vehicle) Crewmember. In June of 1996, Yancy enlisted in the Army Reserves and served over 20+ years as an Infantryman as well as a Military Police Officer. During his combined military career, he was deployed to Bosnia, Panama, Kuwait, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Desert Shield, as well as Operation Iraqi Freedom.
While at home, Yancy served his community as a Line Technician with Sam Houston Electric Co Op for 30+ years and was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 988. Taking his civil service one step further, Yancy joined the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department on August 10, 2004 and served as a Firefighter until 1:30 p.m. on October 5, 2021. During this time, he was an instructor for 17+ years on the Overhead Spill Project and the Electrical Safety Class at the local area fire school. While residing in Shepherd, Yancy also served with the Shepherd Volunteer Fire Department as a Firefighter for approximately 6 years. In his free time, he was a 3 rd Degree Master Mason with the Trinity Lodge No. 14, A.F. & A.M. and pioneered the organization of the Piney Woods Patriots.
Yancy is survived by his wife, Tammy Williams of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Crystal LeeAnn Williams of Livingston, Texas; son Yancy Williams of Livingston, Texas; step dad, Willie Roy Patterson of Livingston, Texas; brother, Chadrick Kyle Williams of Livingston, Texas; sisters, Pattie Patterson Jackson and Shannon of Houston, Texas, ,Keisha Joseph and Kenneth of Baytown, Texas, and Ora Stevenson and Ken of Houston, Texas; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vivian and Frank Henry of Goodrich, Texas; sister-in-law, Tangela Taylor and James of Tampa, Florida; and brother-in-law, Andrea Scott of Humble, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many many friends.
