Funeral services for Thomas Edward Nevinger, 95, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with David G. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Peebles Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until service begins in Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Mr. Nevinger was born November 7, 1919 in St. Louis, Missouri to parents, Perry and Bertha Nevinger, and went to be with the Lord on June 2, 2015 in Livingston, Texas. During his lifetime, he served as the City Secretary of McCamey, Texas and City Manager of Seabrook, Texas. In 1970, he accepted the position of City Manager of the City of Livingston where he served in that capacity until his retirement in 1986. Tom served in WWII until it ended – six months after receiving many medals of honor.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents; Perry and Bertha Nevinger; daughter, Janette Hernandez; daughter, Rita Ivy; son, Robert Rash; and great-grandson, Blake Thomas Gill (whom carried his namesake).
He is survived by his wife; Joyce Rash Nevinger; daughter, Risa Ivy and Glenn "Spanky"; son, Rayford Rash and Kathy; grandchildren, Clint Hightower and Valarie, Heather Hightower, LaRisa Hightower Clack, Brandy Johnson and James, Jason Ivy and Gisele, Christopher Rash, Justin Rash and Tammy, Jennifer Rash Burke, Rayford Paul Rash, Todd Washington and Cyndi, Vance Washington; special family friend, Craig Clack; along with numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
